Honestly, are you really that surprised? Or are you just surprised their cover are blown?
Sure, sure. Article 10 of the Federal Constitution guarantees our freedom of speech, expression, assembly and association.
In general, we all can agree that our rights to freedom of speech and expression is not absolute. Malaysians have accepted the fact that the Parliament has the power to give us our 'freedom' and at the same time, put restrictions on them. Such as ISA, Publishing Act, AUKU among others.
Perhaps, this article can explain better on the freedom of speech and expression in Malaysia.

I strongly doubt that the Parliament will amend our constitution anytime in the near future. Or ever. But it will be interesting to see what the government will do to counter this.
Obviously, the opposition will feed on this issue. Especially with the media its getting, thanks to The Economist.
